When buying your baby's coming home outfit, there are several things to consider. Here are some of the things we’d suggest thinking about before making that special purchase for your precious newborn:

1. Comfort: Choose an outfit made from soft, breathable fabric like cotton or organic materials. Avoid outfits with rough seams or tags that could irritate your baby's delicate skin.

2. Size: Ensure that the outfit is the right size for your baby. If you know your baby is going to be on the small side look for labels like ‘tiny baby’. Newborn sizes can vary from brand to brand, so it's a good idea to have a few options to hand. You may also want to consider buying a range of sizes to accommodate growth spurts (babies do grow quickly once they start guzzling that milk!). Here at Babbico we include a size chart on each product page making it super easy for you to decide the best size for your newborn baby’s coming home outfit.

3. Ease of dressing: Look for outfits with poppers, buttons or zips that make it easy to dress and undress your baby. During a 2am night feed there is no tired new parent that wants to be undoing back poppers and flipping baby onto their front to change them. Avoid outfits with complicated closures or too many layers, as this will make nappy changes and dressing more challenging - no thank you! Here are some of our Babbico faves (note all fastenings are on the front of the babygrow - yipeee!).

4. Weather-appropriate: Consider the time of the year your baby is due and the weather conditions when choosing your perfect going home outfit. If it's cold, opt for a long-sleeved romper or sleepsuit. If it's warm, choose a lightweight outfit or a short-sleeved vest. Think about layering up in the colder months and being able to easily dress down in the summer. You might also want to consider purchasing a matching hat & mittens for an extra cute ‘I’ve arrived!’ photo op.

5. Style and personal preference: Choose a coming home outfit that reflects your style and preference as a parent. It's a memorable occasion, so you may want to purchase something cute, stylish, luxury or sentimental. Consider colours depending on the baby’s sex, patterns, fabrics, textures, whether you can personalise the outfit, and any other special details that hold meaning for you.
